Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
The Pontiac Firebird produced by General Motors was produced from 1967 to 2002. The first generation design was produced from inception to 1969 with a convertible option. The second generation which was change in body design, ran for 11 years from 1970 which was a coupe only. Model variants for this generation the Espirit, Formula and top of the range Trans Am. The Formula and Trans Am models incorporated the V8 powertrains. The Trans Am had upgrades to its suspension, horsepower and included body modifications by way of the bonnet, spoiler and wheel options.
The 1977 model gained notoriety, popularity and an increase in sales when it was featured in the Smokey and the Bandit film. A facelift in 1979 had longevity until the new third generation model arrived in 1982 and lasted 10 years with its more wedge aerodynamic shape. The final generation with more aerodynamic enhancements to aid economy and performance were built between 1993 and 2002.
