Plans
In the UK, vehicle enthusiasts tend to follow a calendar trend and have a plan in the New Year. It’s usually the case of getting Christmas (and the expense of) and the New Year out of the way, then thinking about the execution of the plan.
Restoration
The weather will start to improve in March, so if you want that car on the road for Spring then you have to start this month. You may only have limited time at the weekends to realise getting her on the road ready for the Spring season. Think about the elation of turning the key and the vehicle starting!
Car Shows
Or you looking to attend a good show that you have not been to yet?
Goodwood Festival of Speed. Located in West Sussex, attended by the VIP’s of the motoring world. Vehicles from all eras try their best on the historic short hill track circuit. This year running between the 10th and 13th of July, if spectating with weather permitting, you could sip the drink of your choice on the lawn and enjoy the delights of the fuelled exotica.
The Rally 1000 Miglia, originating from the Mille Miglia rally, the 1000 mile trip through Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy. The route includes small villages with not the best of tarmac clad roads. The weather should be ideal being set in the month of May. Spectate at a chosen point.
Be part of the quarter of a million crowd that attends the outdoor festival experience of the Le Mans 24 Hour Endurance Race. Watch the powerful cars being tested to the limit along with the skill and endurance of the driver.
Driving
Then you have the Stelvio Pass on the mountains of northern Italy bordering Switzerland.
They say the best time to drive it is in the morning before the motorcyclists and cyclists join the tarmac. Concentration is key for the 75 hairpin bends you will discover.
Whatever time you find this year, make it happen! You will enjoy it. If you don’t do it, it could be another year before your plan sees the light of day and you will miss out on the fun to be had!
